The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, since its relaunch, has made some powerful changes to both it's infrastructure & expanded focus so as to protect and advocate for the students & youth of this nation. The foundation recently announced out of Texas that it has now begun moving into the national political arena as a nonprofit registered lobbyist in various states, nationwide.
The foundation this last week has begun registrations as a lobbyist group nationwide, including in Missouri, as we work with State representatives currently to pass, "Conrad's Law."
Within this report the foundation has provided details.
"Registering our foundation 501c(3) nonprofit as a lobbyist nationwide offers us several potential advantages, including amplifying our organization's mission, improving the laws that directly impact our clients, and further, we believe it will strengthen our organization's overall profile. This registration also allows us more freedom to advocate for policy changes while adhering to IRS guidelines as a public charity."
(Daniel Chapin, Founder & President)
Amplified Mission Visibility:
Lobbying will serve to bring our organization's mission and work further into the public eye, raising awareness for the work we do for youth nationwide.
Influencing Legislation:
Lobbying allows the foundation to not only continue our "grassroots" efforts nationwide, but further empowers us to directly advocate for changes in laws & policies to ensure sustainable change which protect our youth.
Strengthened Organization:
Engaging in lobbying activities will enhance our organization's reputation, credibility, and connections with policymakers, media, and potential partners.
Increased Funding Opportunities:
Given the unique nature of our foundations policy to never charge those we serve nationwide for our direct services, coupled with our addendum to never request donations in exchange for direct services, and our policy to not take out loans, etc., - Our foundation has often faced some unique financial circumstances, at times, threatening our abilities to function at the levels we desire. None of our officers or partners EVER receive a salary which helps ensure all donations go directly to programming, such as a scholarships, advocacy work, etc. These tenants will not change
However, Lobbying positions our foundation to gain access to more funding sources, as it demonstrates our ability to make a powerful, larger impact on policy.
Freedom to Advocate:
Registration affords our foundation more flexibility to advocate for policy changes while adhering to IRS guidelines and rules for 501c(3) registered public charities.
Improved Laws for Clients:
Our goal Is that our lobbying efforts will lead to the passage of various laws, such as our proposed "Conrad's Law," in Missouri and, "Ahmir's Law," in Iowa - that benefit those we serve and advocate for, ultimately making it easier for them to access valuable services and support.
