National Nonprofit Celebrates Attorney General Opinion On Community Patrols

IMMEDIATE RELEASE (ORIGINAL)

The One In Five Foundation For Kids

Formerly: The Uvalde Foundation For Kids

9 December 2024

(National/South Carolina)

Following an opinion forwarded by the South Carolina Attorney Generals office responding to South Carolina Senator, JD Chaplin letter addressing concerns pertaining to the foundations planned STOPNOW Patrols, the One In Five Foundation is encouraged that the attorney general has seen our patrols as what we have known and asserted from the beginning - that teams are completely legal operations and allowed; in part going on to state that the private group and foundations Mccoll patrols would be similar to a neighborhood watch in that they can “patrol” and keep watch, but they cannot act as law enforcement or perform any law enforcement duties.

This of course, remains a part of our foundations overall goal with the STOPNOW Patrols & we remain grateful to the Attorney General's insight & opinion as we move forward with our patrols plans in McColl. This evening, our teams arrived in McColl and have completed an initial patrol to understand more of the geography of the area. Additional volunteers sought ongoing.
