Philadelphia Cops Recognized For Saving Student Lives Following Mass SEPTA Bus Shooting

Philadelphia police officers, Cristian Rodriguez & Sean Burgess, credited by physicians for stopping shooting victims bleeding long enough to keep teens alive as they were rushed to the hospital after being shot at a SEPTA bus stop last week are being given a national award for actions to save student lives.
The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending school violence & formed after the Robb Elementary School mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas made the announcement Tuesday morning, 12 March 2024, from its Dallas, Texas headquarters that it will be recognizing the officer with its National HEROISM AWARD. The national Honor is granted to individuals & others who show exceptional dedication to the preservation of student lives
On Wednesday, 13 March 2024, in an updated release, foundation officials announced that they will be adding Philadelphia Police Officer, Sean Burgess to the list of award recipients. Officials noted in Wednesday's release, that Burgess & his partner, Officer Cristian Rodriguez-Hecht, "worked hand in hand to spearhead the efforts to save lives that day, applying tourniquets, organizing transport of injured students and calming panicked bystanders. Focus & multitasking epitomized."
Founder of the Uvalde Foundation For Kids, Daniel Chapin, noted in the updated release, "Both these officers must be commended for their response and focus on saving lives."
The foundation also noted that the officers & the department itself join others from across the nation recently to have received similar honors, including the officer who responded & apprehended the Allen, Texas Mall Mass shooter in 2023, Nashville Police who responded to the Nashville, Tn Covenant School shooting & more recently, Kansas City Chiefs Superbowl winner, Clyde Edwards-Helaire for his efforts to protect a student at the recent Super Bowl victory celebration in Kansas City.
